“Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”
Psalm 2:8

We live in unparalleled times. Not since the first century have more Scriptures been fulfilled in a single generation. Each unfolding word brings down another mountain; it lifts another valley. In truth, the way is being prepared for our King’s return into this world.

This scripture has to do with the Kingdom Age, as the Father declares unto the Son, “Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten Thee. Ask of Me and I will give You the heathen for Thine inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.” It’s talking about that glorious day when our prayers are fulfilled and His kingdom has come and His will is being done in the earth even as it is in heaven, and His kingdom covers the entire earth. So it is the Father speaking to the Son promising to Him the kingdom, ruling over the whole earth.

Ask of me.” It was a custom among great kings, to give to favoured ones whatever they might ask. (See Esther 5:6; Matthew 14:7.) So Jesus hath but to ask and have. Here he declares that his very enemies are his inheritance. To their face he declares this decree, and “Lo! here,” cries the Anointed One, as he holds aloft in that once pierced hand the sceptre of his power, “He hath given me this, not only the right to be a king, but the power to conquer.” Yes! Jehovah hath given to his Anointed a rod of iron with which he shall break rebellious nations in pieces, and, despite their imperial strength, they shall be but as potters’ vessels, easily dashed into shivers, when the rod of iron is in the hand of the omnipotent Son of God. Those who will not bend must break. Potters’ vessels are not to be restored if dashed in pieces, and the ruin of sinners will be hopeless if Jesus shall smite them.

Psalm 2 proclaims that the LORD rules the heavens and the earth, and those who deny this or struggle against it do so in vain. The nations of the world would be wise to acknowledge the rulership of God’s chosen one. Those who do not do so are cruisin’ for a bruisin’.

The special relationship between God is described in terms of an adoption. “You are my son. This day I have begotten you” or “become your father”. Perhaps connected with the descent of the Spirit of God was the new identification of the king as a son of God. And as a son, the king had inheritance rights: “Ask of me and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and as your possession the ends of the earth. You will break them with a rod of iron, like potter’s vessels you will shatter them.” God’s Messiah has special privileges with God, a special kind of protection so that none of the nations of the earth could even hope to challenge him.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, God raised Him up and exalted him to the highest place of honour by making the nations His inheritance and the ends of the earth His possession, ask of Me, were the Father’s instructions to the Son, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
The nations of the earth may conspire against the Lord and against His Anointed – they may mock our Saviour and imagine a vain thing. But God is our God and Christ is our Saviour and blessed is everyone who takes refuge in HIM.

Therefore, while the perverse strive toward complete rejection of God, even as their mocking words fill the air, the Almighty’s unchangeable promise to His Son (and by extension, His Church as Christ’s Body)

“Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations!”
As violence, TERRORISM, New Age religions, immorality, vulgarity, arrogance, and witchcraft flourish in our society, ask God for nations. While all restraint is removed from the entertainment industry, ask God for nations! While perversity dresses in normalcy, ask God for nations! While abortion murder remains protected by laws, ask God with confidence, with boldness, and with faith for nations! Where you see injustice in any form, ask God for His Kingdom to manifest on earth!

Put away fear and discouragement; repent of fretting. The more we accept our place in the divine plan, the more we shall laugh at the enemies’ plans. The faith that relentlessly asks God, pleases God. Now, as the fullness of the times unfolds, as the world around us clothes itself in prophetic fulfillments, let us put away unbelief; let us repent for withdrawal. It is a time to boldly ask of God. As He has promised: He will give the nations as an inheritance to Christ!

Lord Jesus, how blessed we are that as evil matures into full rebellion, Your Church matures into full Christlikeness.

Teach me to pray for my inheritance, spiritual Life in nations. Use me to stand in the gap until people become Your people.

Dear Lord and heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is my Saviour and that You lifted me from the fallen rebellions race of man and clothed me in Christ’s righteousness and seated me together with Him in heavenly places – all praise to HIS name. AMEN
