TOPIC: THE DOMINION MANDATE: YE ARE gODS!

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Genesis 1:27

Martin Luther said that if he could understand the first two words of the Lord’s Prayer as Christ did, the rest of his life in Christ would fall into place. Luther’s observation shows that is it easy to use God’s words, but much more difficult to grasp the reality they signify.
This is true with regards to the “image of God.” Most believers have heard of this concept, but few grasp the profound significance

The image of God is a foundational concept for understanding our significance and purpose. Understanding how we are made in God’s image helps us to see the basis for the dignity and purpose of our life and work.

Our worth is connected to our Creator. If God is of great and inestimable worth, then human beings made in his image must be of great value, too.

‘They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most High’ (Psalm 82:5).

This scripture captures the original essence and intent of God for man: to rule and dominate his world. From the day God created man He spoke out his intent for man’s dominion in Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth”.
This was the original mandate given to man, to live like gods on the earth.
David put that in perspective for us in Psalms 115:16, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men”. The dominion mandate as captured by this scripture entails that we have a ‘godly’ role to play on the earth and godly in this context implies dominating our world! Hence in the opening passage, we read at the beginning of this article we are told that whenever we see the world out of course it is because believers are not in tune with their godly nature and roles! David said until you understand your true nature you will die like men without value! This will not be our experience in Jesus name. Amen
However, the reason why many are not exercising and releasing that godly nature is that they have not experienced the word! Experience with the word is what releases our godly nature!

Jesus made this clear in the book of John, “Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;”
(John 10:34-35). Jesus confirmed here that the scripture in Psalm 85 was no joke; ye are gods and experiencing the word is the key to releasing that godly nature!

The reason why they were called ‘gods’ is that they have experienced God through his word!
The entrance of the word led to the emergence of gods!

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

If God created you in His image this means you have the attributes of God. And the attributes of God includes power of imagination, creativity, innovation, deep thinking, excellence and ingenuity.
It is important for you to know that you are created as a human being not an animal. You have a brain and intelligence higher than all other creatures of God
Most of our daily problems can be solved through deep thinking and meditation. God gave you brain to think, use it today.

There is a time to pray, and there is a time to think. God cannot do all your thinking for you.
I challenge you to think deep using the undiluted word of God and come out with ideas that will solve your problems and move you forward.

Most times, we worry about our problems and expect God to come with the solutions while the solutions are already in His word, you are created in the image of God, and you have the power of imagination and creatively to come up with solutions and ideas from His word to progress.

God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.
How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah
Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.
They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable.
I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.
Psalm 82:1-6

I have said, Ye are gods I have given you this title; I have conferred on you an appellation which indicates a greater nearness to God than any other which is bestowed on men – an appellation which implies that you are God’s representatives on earth, and that your decision is, in an important sense, to be regarded as his.
And all of you are children of the Most High – Sons of God. That is, You occupy a rank which makes it proper that you should be regarded as his sons.

Finding the word, therefore, is the key to becoming like God, and becoming like God is the key to ruling our world. Once we find the word our world will be on course!
Our dominion of the world awaits our understanding of the word, this is why David prayed and said, “give me understanding and I shall live”. The words of God in our hearts will release us as gods on the earth, for through the power of the word humanity is elevated to the status of divinity. And when believers operate on this spiritual wavelength the foundation of the world is set aright for divine agenda.

This day, I encourage you to look for a quiet place and spend some quiet time thinking about the options and alternatives to move your life forward with the word of God.
You are a god. So think like a god today by meditating in His word daily without fail.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
Joshua 1:8

Go ahead, explore your virtues, skills and talent and manifest His works today. As you think and meditate, the Holy Spirit shall give you new ideas, broaden your imagination, remind you of new things, tell you the truth, teach you the solutions, and direct you in Jesus name
