Precious Chikwendu, the estranged wife of former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, has taken a legal action to reclaim the custody of their children.

The suit marked CV/372/2021 which was filed by her lawyer, Mrs. E. D. Moi-Wuyep, before Justice Slyvanus Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory High court, Apo seeks amongst others, the custody of the four children produced by the marriage.

She also urged the court to order the ex-minister to pay N3.438 million to her monthly for the upkeep of the children.

According to her, the children, who are all below six years, have been emotionally traumatized since they were separated from her since August 2, 2020.

She further narrated how Kayode at the slightest provocation abused, beat and assaulted her, her late mother and her siblings when they visited.

“As we progressed in the relationship, the beatings became so severe that on many occasions I feared for my life.

“The respondent would strip me naked in the full glare of everyone in the premises, threaten to kill me while hitting me, and on other occasions, he exhibited all form of cruelty towards me,” she said.

However, at the mention of the case on Friday, the judge found that Fani-Kayode, through his phone conversation with the plaintiff, acknowledged receipt of the summons served on him but didn’t appear before the court.

The Justice adjourned the case till March 12, 2021 for formal report of service.

Recall that the marriage between the former Minister and his estranged wife, Precious Chikwendu crashed due to allegation of domestic violence.
