In these days of terrible God’s anger in the land and the attendant destruction of lives and properties, I bring you the antidote to forestall further damage and destructions in the land!
2Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The sentence, as it continues, forms what is probably the best known and most loved verse in all Chronicles. It expresses, as does no other passage in the Bible, the stipulations that God lays down for a nation to experience his blessing, whether that nation be Solomon’s, Ezra’s, or our own. Those who have been chosen to be his people must cease from their sins, turn from living lives of proud self-centeredness, pray to the Lord, and yield their desires to his Word and his will. Then, and only then, will he grant heaven-sent revival.
Our situation in this nation cannot be solved by human means, we need Divine intervention to bring this country back to being a God-fearing, peaceful, prosperous Christian nation. Jesus told his disciples Apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
God gave four conditions, and assured us that He will visit us if we can fulfil all these conditions.
The two key words in our text today is HUMBLE and HEAL let’s then look at the two critically for a full and total understanding of God’s word to us today.
1.Will HUMBLE themselves:
This phrase deals with the area of our pride. It speaks of men thinking more of themselves and their abilities than they do of God.
We have learned how to function without the help of the Lord and it has destroyed the power of the church.
How can you tell if you have a pride problem? Here are the evidences of pride in a life:
Pride refuses to listen, it always interrupts others.
Pride likes to talk about itself all the time.
Pride has an intense desire to be noticed.
Pride believes that it deserves everything it gets.
Pride is not thankful.
Pride cannot be corrected.
Pride does not like to follow instructions.
Pride exalts itself in the presence of others; it brags.
Pride criticizes and tries to makes itself look better by putting others down.
Pride thinks of its own needs first.
God has a better plan! He calls on His people to “humble themselves”. The word “humble” means “to bend the knee; to bring down; to place self under another.”
Will HEAL their land!
God’s nature revealed in Exodus 15:26, Jesus’ ministry of healing all, and an abundance of promises in the Word of God combine to convince that it’s God’s will to heal us physically, spiritually and otherwise. He is Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord our Physician!
In heavenly pharmacy, prayer is a catholicon; it healeth all things. Prayer, which overcomes heaven, will certainly never be overmatched on earth. Neither men nor devils can stand against prayer: it smites them hip and thigh like another Samson. The bow of prayer returns not empty; it is swifter than an eagle, it is stronger than a lion. Take thy case to God, O heir of trouble; unroll Rabshakeh’s letter before the Host High, and the Lord will silence his revilings. Half the work is done when it is brought before God in supplication.
This is telling us that if there are people to lift up their voices to cry and pray to JEHOVAH RAPHA that He is able and capable to HEAL us and HEAL our land!
Thank God though there is a great physician! He is “Jehovah-Rapha” the “Lord that Heals!” God revealed Himself as one who can heal the most incredible situations, the most horrible of diseases, in both the Old Testament and the New Testament times. And since He never changes those promises are still good today!
