“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor
You will surround him as with a shield.”
– Psalm 5:12

As this Scripture verse points out, the favor of the Lord is like a shield that surrounds and protects a believer on every side. No matter what difficulties or challenges may be coming against you today, you can be confident that you are absolutely safe under the Lord’s favor.

When we cultivate God’s righteousness, then His favor encircles and protects us like a shield on every side. It shields us against the pressures of life. It comes between us and the forces of evil that seek to destroy us — forces too powerful and cunning for us to deal with in our own strength or wisdom. We have no protection against these forces except the invisible but also invincible shield provided for us in the Lord’s favor.
The favor of the Lord also is typified by the cloud of His presence. Proverbs 16:15 says, “In the light of the king’s face is life; and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.” So, when you have the favor of God on you, you are walking under the cloud of the latter rain.
Proverbs 19:12 further tells us: “The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion; but his favor is like dew upon the grass.” So, God’s favor is like a cloud of the latter rain, and it is also like dew on the grass. You never need to be spiritually dry when you are walking under God’s favor!
Imparting God’s Blessings
If you walk in the favor of the Lord, you are able to impart His blessings to other people (Genesis 12:2). You can take the cloud and the dew of His favor with you wherever you go. What could be a greater privilege than that?
Every humble child of God who walks under the cloud of His favor is a “rain bringer,” precipitating His grace and His blessings to everybody he comes in contact with. There is a special fragrance about him, a unique presence within him -something overshadowing him that goes everywhere he goes.
The apostle Paul describes this as “the fragrance of Christ”:

“Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing”
2 Corinthians 2:14-15.

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:3).

“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward” (Matthew 10:42).

It is one of the characteristics of God that while He will punish the wicked, He will show kindness to the righteous; while He brings deserved punishment upon the one, he will show kindness to the other. It’s a sure thing, the righteous man shall be rich with blessing.

God is still searching throughout the earth to find those whose hearts are fully His (2 Chronicles 16:9). When He finds such people, He will show Himself strong on their behalf, manifesting divine favor in and through them for all the world to see. Let us choose to be such people.

It doesn’t matter what kind of trouble you may find yourself in from time to time, God’s grace is always strong enough to get you out! All you have to do is tap in to it…by faith.

If you want to enjoy God’s grace—His unconditional favor—then start releasing your faith. Get into God’s Word. Put that Word into your heart and speak it out of your mouth. Begin to believe it and act on it.

If you’ll do that, you won’t have to be defeated in any area of your life. Because there is no situation, no circumstance, no disaster—nothing Satan has ever done or can do—that is stronger than the favor and the grace of God.

The Apostle Paul proved that. He faced more trouble than most of us could ever imagine. He gives a list of the things that happened to him in 2 Corinthians 11:23-29—beatings, stonings, jail, shipwrecks.

Paul said those things came to him because a demonic messenger had been sent to stop him. This evil spirit came to stop him from preaching the gospel. Paul called the messenger “a thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7).

That demon worked hard to shut Paul’s mouth and throw him off course, but nothing worked. Why? Grace. God’s favor.

Remember that when circumstances come against you. When the devil is trying to mess up your life and it looks like there’s absolutely no way out of the problem, don’t despair. God’s power excels in those situations. His favor is always enough to bring you out on top.

Don’t ever be intimidated by the devil. The Bible says he is limited to the things of this natural world. But grace is without limit. It releases heaven’s supernatural power on your behalf.

Speak to what you are facing today. Say: “I’m a born-again child of Almighty God. His supernatural favor surrounds me like a shield this very moment. It is more than enough to deliver me out of this trouble. My faith is in God’s Word and I’m coming out of this triumphantly by the favor and the grace of God!”

Speak the Word!
“The Lord blesses me for I am righteous. He surrounds me with favor as with a shield.” —Psalm 5:12

If there be such a wretch out of hell, I am he, yet, say, but to God, “ I believe in thy mercy, I believe in thy promise, I believe in thy Son Jesus, I believe in his precious blood, and here I am, do with me as seemeth good in thy sight,”— say but this and thou shalt have mercy, and pardon, and peace. My dear
readers, shall I say this for myself and not for you ? Nay, but may God grant that many a score of you this morning may be led to put your trust in him who has said, “They that trust in me shall never be confounded.”
