“Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.”
Joel 2:23

The Bible is filled with agricultural symbolism as a means of depicting God’s grand and glorious purpose for humanity (Matthew 13). God is in the business of growing things—a new crop of humans, to be exact (1 Corinthians 3:6-8).
Human beings, like a farmer’s crop, move through a growth process that culminates in a harvest of ripe produce. In agriculture there are a few specific stages involved in producing a good final harvest: the planting, the germination of the seed by the early rains, the maturation period, and finally the ripening period brought on by the last rains of the season, called “the latter rain.”
The “latter rain” is a biblical symbol for the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit, by which the corporate spiritual experience of God’s church will be brought to ripeness for the harvest (Joel 2:23-29). Rain is the stimulus and medium by which the nutrients in the soil are drawn up through the root system. In the realm of spiritual growth, the Holy Spirit is the rain agency.

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.”
Joel 2: 28-29

Don’t you get tired of dead sermons, preached by dead preachers, in dead churches, in a dead community in a dying world?
It is frustrating that many Christians have become so dead! Just occupying a pew……We need some new life poured into us. WE need a fresh anointing! We need those showers of blessings. We need a revival of Holy Ghost anointed sermons, preached under the power of the anointing of the Holy Ghost on the preacher, who stands behind the pulpit of a Holy Ghost powered church that can make a difference in a dying world!

God promises to pour out his spirit upon you like a flood, both the former rain and latter rain together. He promises to feed you and provide for you until you are more fruitful than ever before. God’s rain is falling! The flood gates of Heaven have been opened and the unending power of the Holy Ghost is falling like never before so don’t miss out. The thing about rain is that you can either get out and soak it all in OR…..you can run for cover.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David,
and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:
“And they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his
firstborn”
Zechariah 12:9-10.

This prophecy from Zechariah is about a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will take place in the last days.

The end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit will not come to us as a nebulous or mysterious power, but rather in the form of unprecedented clarity regarding God’s love, which was put on display in Jesus. In other words, the Holy Spirit operates with one very specific goal, and that goal is to direct mental and emotional attention to the good news of God’s saving grace as manifested in the sacrifice of Christ.

“Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.”
Jeremiah 5:24.

The earth is dependent upon the rain shower from heaven, so are the souls of men, and so are their holy works, dependent upon the grace shower which cometh from the great Father of light, the giver of every good and perfect gift. A famine would surely follow in the East if the rain were withheld, so would spiritual disasters of the worse kind be sure to ensue if the grace of God were restrained.

One of the most amazing works of the Spirit in the believer’s life is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This filling of the Spirit empowers us for successful ministry — “You will receive power” (vs. 8). And it enables us to “be witnesses” effectively for Jesus Christ. It’s not by might nor by power or abilities that man can muster up, but “by my Spirit, says the Lord,” that we can do mighty works for God.
In other words, being filled with the Spirit opens up for us the opportunity to begin operating in an enlarged scope of spiritual gifts, ministries, and manifestations. It is only by the Spirit of God, not my man’s might or human power, that we can minister in the supernatural realm as the Lord intends us to.
In fact, one of the marks of our being a son or daughter of God is receiving this spiritual guidance — “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God”
Romans 8:14.

How do we understand the things of God, His thoughts, His plans for us? We understand them by spiritual discernment. Without the Spirit, these things may appear to the natural man as foolishness. But the man or woman guided by the Holy Spirit will discern the mind of God.
Galatians 3:3

“And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”
1Corinthians 2:1-5

When God’s anointing is on you, things become renewed, supple, smooth-flowing, easy. Things go smoothly for you even though you don’t have the experience or smarts to make it happen.

The anointing upon you will cause you to do things far beyond your natural ability. Beyond your experience, beyond your education level, beyond your IQ.

For as the rain comes down … So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth … it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” — When God’s Word, His pure concentrated wisdom, falls on us like rain, it will cause us to prosper. Just like the rain causes the seeds to bud and the trees to blossom.
The world will grow darker and darker, But for the church, it’s going to be a time of the latter rain. We will receive showers of blessings. It will be a time of the harvest, a time of manifestation of blessings.

Jesus died young, at the age of 33, that you would live long.
He was rejected so that you would be accepted.
He was punished so that you would be favored.

WE ARE NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO MERCY DROPS. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS!
When you are drenched in the rain, you look different. Your clothes are soaked, your hair is soaked. The rain changes your appearance.

“Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame.”
— ‭‭Joel‬ ‭2:23–26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.” — God promises that our harvest this year will overflow! A harvest can be meager, but ours will be overflowing.

“By the anointing Jesus breaks the yoke,
By the Holy Ghost and power just as the prophet spoke,
This is the day of the latter rain,
God is moving in His power again,
And the anointing will break the yoke.”

Pluck up courage, ye faint-hearted ones, and gathering courage, gather also strong desire. Pray for your own maturity and perfection. Seek this day in earnest secret prayer the latter rain, because ye know it shall have the best results. It shall not be wasted drops, but it shall fall to be repaid by you in increasing faith, and love, and holiness, and heavenliness, that Christ’s wheat when gathered in may be worthy of the labour he has spent upon it. May God bless you, dear brethren and sisters, and lead you on from strength to strength; and if any of you, my readers, are not Christians, may the Lord, the Spirit, lead you to the cross of Jesus, and His shall be the glory.
