WHOSE REPORT ARE YOU BELIEVING?

IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: WHOSE REPORT ARE YOU BELIEVING?

COMPILED/EDITED BY:-

“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isaiah 53:1

•• Our faith is not in generalities, not in man’s wisdom, not in the latest fads or societal customs. No, our faith is to be laser-focused on what I will call in this sermon God’s report — His timeless truths revealed in His holy bible.

If you listen to the report of men, you will fail! Listen to what God is telling you to do and be lead by His Holy Spirit!

We are living in the world full of contrasting reports. Satan and the world’s system give their report while God and his servants give a different report. Whose report will you believe? Isaiah 53:1 says, “Who has believed our report? And to whom is the Arm of the Lord revealed?”

Do you believe God’s
report concerning…
• Salvation in Jesus Christ
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 16:30-31 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household.”
Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out…
•• God has only one plan for the salvation of mankind — repentance and faith towards Jesus Christ, the crucified and resurrected Son of God.
• Concerning salvation being found only in Jesus Christ, the apostle Peter said, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
•• Have you believed God’s report concerning salvation? If not, there is no better time than now to take these next few minutes and find eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Now many of us know this passage and of what is taking place there in it.
The Lord told Moses in the first verse of this chapter, “Send out men to explore the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the Israelites. Send one leader from each of the twelve ancestral tribes”, and so Moses does just that.
He sent out the spies to go into the promised land and bring back a report of what they find.

“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”

The majority is not always right. Believing the right report is not always popular. Caleb had to stand up in the mist of a majority and say that he and Joshua the minority could handle the giants

But how many of you here today, know that God expects us step and out and move, when it comes to taking back ground from the enemy.
If you and I want to occupy the land that the enemy has taken, or is holding onto and we want to see the TRUE fruit of the harvest in that land, then we must first move!
God has called us to MOVE and take ground.
He has always promised to be faithful and go before us, but he expects His people to step out and move, right?! Can I get an amen?

With so many different reports that can be seen on the news, the vast opinions flooding social media, work places dividing over political views, and families that are crumbling because of different beliefs, where does one turn to seek the truth? Who, where, or in what do we place our hope to bring us through such times of difficulty and uncertainty? Isaiah spent much of his ministry prophesying of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, yet, who would believe that God would choose to save the world through a humble, suffering servant rather than a glorious king?

The book of Isaiah was written to call the nation of Judah back to God and to tell them of God’s salvation through the Messiah. The second half of this prophetic book offers a message of forgiveness, comfort, and hope as it looks forward to the coming Messiah. Those who would heed Isaiah’s warnings of judgment and place their hope in this coming Messiah would find eternal peace and comfort from the future Redeemer. The question then became, “Who believes this?, Who will accept what the Lord has revealed”

Christ and his righteousness, or your self-righteousness; — cleansing in Christs blood, and covering with his perfect righteousness, on the one hand; and, on the other, salvation by your own works, salvation by your own prayers, salvation by your almsgiving, or by anything of your own. You know, at once, which is “the Lord’s side” out of those two, for the Lord is always on Christ’s side; indeed, Christ himself is God. Justification by faith is the side on which God is; but justification by the works of the law is a lie; in fact, it is an impossibility. Now, dear friends, on which side are you with regard to this matter of salvation by Christ or salvation by self? Are you “on the Lord’s side” of that question.
Here is yet another point from which to view this great conflict; the gospel of the grace of God, or the superstitions and falsehoods of men. The Bible teaches us that sinners are saved by believing in Jesus Christ; but superstition says, “No, they are saved by being sprinkled with water, through the subtle influences that trickle from priestly fingers; they are saved by baptism, saved by sacraments. Here, then, is a sharp conflict between salvation by Christ and salvation by priests. We know which is “the Lord’s side” of that controversy; but, dear friend, on which side are you? Do you go direct to the Lord Jesus Christ as your great High Priest, and do you trust alone to the merit of his atoning sacrifice; or will you go crouching to your fellow-creature, and pour into his ear the infamous story of your sin, and so defile him even more than he is already; and, then, will you come back deluded with the false notion that you have obtained “absolution” at his hands? We know that none can forgive sins save God alone; this is the Lord’s way of making reconciliation through the blood of Jesus Christ his Son; so, friends, are you for Zion or for Rome? Are you on the side of Christ or on the side of antichrist?

There is a fierce battle, still raging in the world, between Scripture and tradition, — between this Grand Old Book and certain things which have been handed down, by tradition, from the fathers. They are said to be customs of the early church, or to have been ordained by various councils, or decreed by infallible popes. Well, dear friends, are you on the side of God’s Word or of man’s word? Is your rule of life, “Thus saith the Lord,” or “Thus say the fathers,” or “Thus say the councils,” or “Thus say the popes”? “Who is on the Lord’s side” in this matter?

As you live out each day taking in all the negative reports and opinions that come from all sides, do you take time to rest in positive thoughts? It seems that “good news” is not as abundant these days and often seems to be hiding in the hard to reach places, but let me ask, Do you believe there is an answer for all this trouble in the world? Do you believe God’s Word is true and that it can bring you peace and comfort, even when the world brings pain and strife? I do! — And even with those that disagree, stating that I can’t prove these things, my faith is not diminished. I choose to believe God’s report because it brings me joy and peace. We are free to believe whatever we wish, and I have chosen to believe in what strengthens me, comforts me, forgives me, empowers me, and loves me… I will believe the report of the Lord.

Let me encourage you today to stand firm in your faith in Jesus Christ. We are not redeemed by whether or not we feel worthy or by what we can prove, we are redeemed by what we believe. Whose report will you believe today, the world and all its gloom and negativity, or will you trust in a Savior that loves you, forgives you, and wants to bless you here on earth and with a home in eternity? Don’t let the world drag you down. Hold your head up and march through this day as a child of the King, loving others as Christ has loved us.

I pray, “Lord, help me make a difference in someone’s life today. Thank You for the hope and forgiveness I have in Jesus Christ and let me share Your Word with someone in need. Let my faith grow stronger and shine brighter as the worlds criticism grows darker. You are my God. You are my Savior. You are my Friend. I will trust in You. In Jesus’ name I believe, amen.”
