IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: O YE DRY BONES, HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD!

“Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.”
Ezekiel 37:4

Summary:
Symbolically, this vision is about the resurrection of Israel as a nation. The dry and disconnected bones represent how God’s people had been defeated, divided and scattered in exile. Only God can reconnect their bones, unite them and bring them back together as a country!

Bones are often associated with dead bodies or with death itself. Dry human bones symbolize a human body that has been dead for an extended period of time: in some cases, for hundreds or thousands of years. By this time, it is impossible for anyone in the right frame of mind to contemplate any means by which such bones will come back to life again. This was the situation in the valley of dry bones when God asked Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live?” knowing well that it was impossible by any human means for those bones to live, but also being conscious of the fact that he was standing before the one that created the universe by the power of His word, Ezekiel tactically answered by saying “O Lord God, thou knowest.” Then the Lord asked the prophet to prophesy to the bones, and in Ezekiel 37:7, as soon as he prophesied, this happened:

“…there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.”

I therefore prophesy to everything that stands as dry bones in your life and to every symbol of death in your family; hear the word of the Lord: Be restored back to life now in the Name of Jesus.

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
Ezekiel 37: 1-10

In Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones brought back to life by God’s Spirit, the resurrection of the bones is used as a symbol. Ezekiel’s vision is not directly related life after death, but rather with the salvation of God’s people from captivity and exile. Some people are locked up in a strange land.

I know how easy it is to focus on and despair over the number of dry bones. But I also know that is not the final story of God and God’s people.

A dry bone in this context refers to every area you may be experiencing droughts or famine. Yes! Because a dried bone is lifeless; it can also refer to dead situations in one’s life. However, I have good news for you, every potential in you that has become dried-dead, shall rise again in Jesus name. Ezekiel prophesied on dry bones as led and they began to locate each other even as flesh covered them up and they lived again.

We serve a God who isn’t new to the business of bringing dried (dead) bones to life. Little wonder, Lazarus who was dead and buried for 4 days (John 11:20-45) and that child in 2 Kings 4:32-35 were both brought back to life. Likewise, in 2 Kings 4:1-7, a widow had a last little pot of oil to feed and her children. But, Elisha told her to get as many drums as possible and fill them up from this oil. She poured and poured that all the drums were filled to the brim.

God was about to show himself strong, so that all the world would see that he is Sovereign Lord of all. The holiness of God will become known to the nations.
He rewards those who turn and believe in him with a new heart.
God fulfills his promise and that he is able to speak life into hearts and lives that are spiritually dry or dead.

TRIALS BRING BLESSINGS AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

It is in the valley that we can see clearly the hand of God in our lives. Mountain top blessings occur following valley experiences. It’s in the valley we find spiritual growth. What we learn in the valley regarding God’s love, faithfulness, and power is what gives us spiritual boldness and strength to worship him on the mountain top.

Know that there are valleys between every mountain top. Spiritual battles are fought and won in the valley.

God works miracles and speaks life into people’s lives while they are in the valley.
spiritual valley can be a result of an emotional, financial, relational, or physical valley.
We need to simply remain faithful and trust God. But know this, God is with you both on the mountain top and in the valley. You are never alone no matter how you may feel. Choose to remain faithful and trust God and you will come through the valley and arrive at the mountain top.

Beloved dry bones are infrastructures, note that every dry bone has potential but your sensitivity matter a lot, what are you seeing? The fact or the truth? Your opinion or what God is saying to you about the dry bones?

Dry bones here can represent that particular situation that you have given up on or that you don’t ever believe will work out to favour you no matter how you try.
If you study Ezekiel 37 from verse 1 and 2 you will realize that Ezekiel was never in control. The Spirit of God was in total control as he took hold of the great man to show him that particular situation.

This is quite interesting, sometimes in life, it looks like nothing is just working out for our good. This might just be as a result of a particular situation that you have not solved, it might just be a key to other doors. You need the Holy Spirit to grab you and show you what to do or how to go about it because no matter how you think about it or you try to solve it, things might not just work.

The interesting part of verse 2 was that these bones were completely dried out. Some versions said it was bleached by the sun which means no hope for that situation humanly speaking (the doctors have said to you that the illness is taking your life in a few days’ time, your tutor has told you just forget it mate you have to rewrite the paper or leave the university, no hope.
Situations with dead ends you have already concluded). But beloved again the truth you have not seen Is not the fact you are seeing. There is a solution to that problem.

I perceive God telling you to speak and prophesy to that issue brethren, in verse 4 God outrightly showed us what he expects us to do to dry bones. |Instead of crying and trying He expects you to prophesy.

God says come on prophesy and command the dry bones to live again. God won’t come down to tell you what to say or help you solve the situation He has given you His word, so prophesy to that situation.

Look at this. God told Ezekiel something interesting in chapter 2 verse 8 to 9 and then chapter 3 verse 1 to 4. This part moved me/ He has given you His word, eat it and prophesy to those dry bones and they will respond to the specific command you give to them. Remember God was specific Ezekiel 37 vs 5 and 6 He described how He wanted those bones to recover.
You can do the same all you need is to challenge that situation with the right word of God (Luke 21 vs 15, Jeremiah 1 vs 9 and 10) and keep prophesying. Every dry bone has the potential to come alive, they won’t walk until you call them together with the words from your mouth.

God did not just pick Ezekiel and asked him to prophesy. He made him feed on His word as seen earlier then he spoke the very words of God. Same here God expects us to do the same.
The question is, do you see potential in that dry bone? Whatever the situation it is that seems dry to you God is saying prophesy and as you do the dry bones will come alive (Isaiah 55 vs 11) IN JESUS NAME. AMEN.
