BIBLE’S 365 FEAR NOTS; ASSURANCES OF OUR DIVINE PROTECTION AND PROVISIONS

TOPIC: BIBLE’S 365 FEAR NOTS; ASSURANCES OF OUR DIVINE PROTECTION AND PROVISIONS

“Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.”
Exodus 14:13

Faith is the antidote for fear. Where fear is, faith cannot be found and where faith is, fear cannot be found. In the Bible, there are 365 places that “FEAR NOT” or “BE NOT AFRAID” was written. This means that there is a “fear not” for each day of the year for you.

FEAR not” is a plant which grows very plentifully in God’s garden. If you look through the lily beds of Scripture you will continually find by the side of other flowers the sweet “Fear nots” peering out from among doctrines and precepts, even as violets look up from their hiding places of green leaves.

The Israelites at the Red Sea were afraid of Pharaoh, and then the Lord said to them, “Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of God.” If you are brought to a pass to-night, and know not what to do, take the advice of Holy Scripture, and “Fear not”; but “stand still and see the salvation of God.” As we observe the Scriptures we perceive that “Fear nots” are scattered throughout the Bible as the stars are sprinkled over the whole of the sky.

“Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of anyone, for judgment belongs to God.”
Deuteronomy 1:7

A wise man said – When fear knocks at the door, send faith to open the door and you will discover that there is nobody there. Every time faith is at work, fear disappears and every time fear is at work faith cannot operate.
The reason many people are afraid is because of lack of faith. When Peter was walking on the water, he saw a boisterous wind and became scared. As soon as he was afraid, the Bible recorded that he began to sink.

So when you know God, no devil will make you to panic. You cannot have God and be terrorized. Do not be terrified by your adversaries because God is always with you.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

Fear is to Satan
what
Faith is to God
Faith does God’s work
Fear does Satan’s work

Now I gather from the plentifulness of “Fear nots,” even in the Old Testament, that the Lord does not wish his people to be afraid, that he is glad to see his people full of courage, and especially that he does not love them to be afraid of him. He would have his children treat him with confidence. Slavish fear may be thought to be congenial to the Old Testament, and yet it is not so, for there the Lord cries to his chosen, “Fear not.”

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

God operates on the basis of faith, which enables believers to resist one of the devil’s chief operative tactics — fear. God has not given believers
a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline (sound mind or literally “a saved mind”).

“Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”
Isaiah 35:4

Fear not!” is the most repeated command in the Bible. In fact, it’s been said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible — one “Fear not” for every day of the year.

The book, Facing the Future without Fear even said there are 366 “Fear nots” in the Bible, one for every day of the year, including Leap Year! God doesn’t want us to go a single day without hearing his word of comfort: “Fear not!”

“But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1

Fear is something we face every day that can steal our joy and peace if we let it overwhelm us. What do we do when faced with valid fears like the loss of a job, the death of a loved one, the future of our children, and sickness? We can turn to Scripture to be reminded of God’s love and promises of protection and peace in our lives.

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.”
Isaiah 54:4

No matter how dedicated, righteous and holy you are, if you are afraid, you have given the devil room to attack you.
Fear will always give the devil access to your life. Satan could not touch Job until he became afraid.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes: Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grown. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you -you of little faith? So do not worry, saying “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness , and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Mathew 6:25-34

Fear is generated by unbelief, and unbelief strengthened by fear. Nothing can cure us of fear till God cures us of unbelief.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”
2 Timothy 1:7

You can reshape your destiny and rewrite your story by faith. Satan cannot get at you until he gets at your faith. Nothing gives way to the devil like fear. Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear is not a psychological state; fear is a spirit.

He who has a colossal faith will sometimes find that the clouds of fear float over the brow of his confidence. It is not possible, I suppose, so long as man is in this world, that he should be perfect in anything; and surely it seems to be quite impossible that he should be perfect in faith. Sometimes, indeed, the Lord purposely leaves His children, withdraws the divine inflowings of His grace, and permits them to begin to sink, in order that they may understand that faith is not their own work, but is at first the gift of God, and must always be maintained and kept alive in the heart by the fresh influence of the Holy Spirit.

As the New Year begins to draw its unseen boundaries on the first of its 365 days, to whom can we flee for guidance and strength if not to Thee, our Father, who changest not? We have never gone this way before, and with all the uncertainties of life surrounding us, we know not whether we shall reach the end of this annual chapter in our lives. One blessed truth we do know, however: If we have Christ, Thy Son, our newborn Savior, and worship Him in the sincerity of humble faith, then the worst with which an entire year of suffering may blight our hopes cannot tear us from Thee. If it were not for this Heavensent assurance of the love that gave Thine only-begotten Son as the Source of eternal life for all who believe, we could not greet the dawn of any new day except with fear. But praise be to Thine unlimited grace, we have Thee, our loving Father, our divine Redeemer, our purifying Spirit. Help us, then, so that each day of the new year may bring us closer to Thee, each week record an advance in our Christian knowledge, each month witness a growth in self-sacrificing love for our fellow-men. In this way, Father, if it be Thy will that we live until the year ends, we pledge Thee daily thanks for Thy bestowal of mercies renewed every morning. Hear us and bless all Thy children through Christ! Amen.

Tried people of God, rest in the Lord, and your confidence shall be your strength. You have often heard of the boy on board ship in time of storm who was the only person that was not afraid. When they asked him why he did not fear, he said w Because my father is at the helm.” We have still better cause for casting away all fear, for not only is our Father at the helm but our Father is everywhere, holding the winds and the waves in the hollow of his hand. No trouble can happen to you or to me but what he ordains or permits. No trial can come but what he will restrain and overrule. No evil can happen but what shall certainly work for good to them that love God. Therefore be not afraid. What though the howling tempest yell, and the ship creak and groan as she labours among the waves, and you think that nothing but destruction awaits you, fear not! Let not fear linger for a single moment in the presence of the eternal Christ who says, “It is I. Be not afraid.” May God grant that his own “Fear not” may go home to the heart of every one here present in some form or other; and unto his name be glory, world without end. Amen.
