I, AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE ARE FOR MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS

IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: I, AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE ARE FOR MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS

SERMON BY-:

“Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion”
(Isaiah 8:18).

A sign is an event, pattern that conveys a meaning or shows that an event is taking place.

A wonder is a miraculous deed or event that cause surprise or admiration; a thing that makes people to come and see.

Signs and wonders are divine events that display God’s glory and purpose to people. There is a slight distinction between a sign and a wonder. Signs are acts of God that, like a signpost, guide men toward God. Wonders are acts of God that strike amazement within someone toward God.

Signs and wonders glorify Christ and testify to His Messianic claims (John 9:1-3). The book of Acts records 21 miracles. Seventeen of the 21 miracles appear within the context of leading souls to Christ.

  • Signs and wonders convince people of God’s truth (John 20:30-31).
  • Signs and wonders confirm God’s Word (Mark 16:20; Hebrews 2:2-4).
  • Signs and wonders strengthen believer’s faith (Acts 4:31).

A miracle is an event where God is circumventing the natural order in order to do something extraordinary. Miracles have a greater purpose than allowing you to find your keys. Miracles are one of the Sings and Wonders that Jesus promised would accompany those who believed and are associated with the Holy Spirits presence in our live.

Miracles and the other signs and wonders are demonstrations of the spirit of God that can’t be explained (designed to bring glory to God.) – VITAL!!!!

Signs and wonders Validates God’s power and ability in an unbelieving world

The greek word for Believe is pisteuō – it means not only to believe to have faith to have faith in God – to commit (to trust) to accept.

There is an inherent idea in the word and the concept of faith that it results not in belief alone but is an action, in an event.

As citizens of heaven we should expect the Holy Spirit to bring signs and wonders through us.
The bible tells us that “signs and wonders shall follow them that believe in His name.” Mark 16:17
Now either we believe it or we don’t. To believe it is to act on it, to disbelieve it is to not act on it.

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”
Mark 16:17-18

God is the Provider of signs and wonders (Isaiah 7:14). It proves that as God was with the Jews in the Old Testament, so God is still the same, He does not change. As human beings, nobody is born into any family by accident. God choose the family for us to be born into, because He has a purpose for our lives.
As children of God we are for sign and wonder to our generation
(Isaiah 8:18).

As Christians, we must rely on God’s miracles and stand firm in our faith. Faith makes us believe that with God, all things are possible. Elijah withheld rain for over three years, we can also do that. When we are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to cast out demons using God’s Word and they will obey (Psalm 18:44). No matter the situation or circumstances, let us rejoice because God created us with a divine nature that works to overcome any situations. God is omnipresent. He has no limits and performs signs and wonders in our present time.

TWO DISTINCT MIRACLES THAT TOOK PLACE BEFORE AND AFTER MY BELOVED MOTHER’S BURIAL

I lost my beloved mother Madam Rachael Ugoye Udochukwu to the cold hands of death at a very ripe age of 100years on the 14th day of February 2023 and in my own side of the world this calls for what we call a celebration of life.
After weeks of planning and a very tedious preparation I, and my family set out to our village in Anambra State, Southeastern part of Nigeria for a befitting burial for my beloved mother of faith and love.

The first miracle took place at Nkpor in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State on Friday 7th day of April 2023 at about 7:45pm this is about one week to my Mum’s burial.

We have just snaked through the ONITSHA Niger bridge where we spent close to 3hours because of the traditional holdup at the over 60years old bridge, as we were descending the Eke Nkpor hill about 15 minutes drive to my village we noticed that many vehicles were hurriedly turning back and as we were wondering about what was going on we heard three gunshots that was when it dawned on us that we have ran into a group of daredevil armed robbers, I immediately asked my driver to turn back but as the driver reversed the vehicle and was about to speed back to where we were coming from three men in a tricycle (Keke) stopped in front of our vehicle and without wasting time one of the men jumped down from the Keke and aimed his gun at the driver in a bid to shoot and kill him and in order to prevent us from escaping with the goods laden vehicle which is an added attraction to the robbers but to the glory of God the gun refused to fire, as he was fumbling with the gun and shouting “tuanu down (all of you come down) and if you make any more move I will kill all of you”, my driver saw an opening between their Keke and a truck in our front and sped off while the robber was still trying to shoot without the gun responding until we escaped from the scene.

The second miracle took place on the day of the burial.

Before the day of the burial a rainmaker came to us to discuss on what we should pay him so that there will be no rain on that day and I promptly told him that we have already told God that there will be no rain and no too much sunshine on the said day which obviously infuriated him because he saw my statement as an affront and he left.
To the glory of God on the burial day there was no rain and no too much sun just as we asked God throughout until around 9pm after we have concluded everything about the burial ceremony there was a very heavy downpour which ended up disrupting an event going on in the rainmaker’s family compound as many people saw him and other family members running Helter skelter from the heavy downpour.

Is our God not wonderful!

Glory to the Lord God Almighty!
HALLELUJAH!!!!

“Our God is “the Miracle Worker”, “the Almighty” and is still doing miracles. He proclaim His Sovereign power over all His creations in heaven and on earth. “Who is like unto thee, O Lord among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders”
Exodus 15:11

As I posited before, Miracles have a purpose, which is ultimately glorify God,
They glorify God by putting His power on display. Think about the way that people responded to the Acts of the apostles as they proclaimed the gospel. The result was that people believed and glorified God. The same is true of the miracles we see in the Old Testament, such as the parting of the Red Sea.
They glorify God by confirming the truth of His message and the trustworthiness of His messengers. God worked miracles through Moses, and Peter in order to confirm their message. Jesus also performed miracles to confirm the truthfulness of His message and His identity as the Messiah, God’s Promised Rescuer.

I believe all of the miracles we see in the bible still happen including the biggest miracle of all – Salvation.By faith in Christ, the One who miraculously rose from the dead, God does the impossible and raises the spiritually dead to life!
That, by definition is a miracle—the greatest miracle that any of us can experience. And it is a miracle that God gladly and joyfully continues to work in people all over the world, in every nation and people group, as they put their trust in Jesus.
With that one decision, the Holy Spirit dwells within you, within me. Opening up the possibilities of signs and wonders as we tell the world about our own miracle, Saved by grace – loved by God.

SALVATION is Possibly the biggest sign and wonder of all.
Through the help of the Holy Spirit, God will perform signs and wonders that will give us testimonies and at the end of the day, God will be glorified in our lives for His sovereign power working in us. Stay connected to Jesus who is highy exalted by God and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father, (Philippians 2:9‭-‬11). For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable, do so now, tomorrow might be too late. DO IT NOW!
