“There is a sound of abundance of rain.”
1 Kings 18:41.

God is about to breakthrough in our society today. Our society is much like ancient Israel. We have been captured by this same idolatrous worship. Baal worship is characterized by sexual perversion, the shedding of innocent blood, and the worship of money and the environment.

FROM the narrative we may learn that things can never be so bad but what God can bring deliverance in His own time. The country had been parched in Palestine for three years. Travelers in the East will tell you how brown and burned that country looks at all times, but how it must have appeared when the clouds cleaved together and all the pastures were turned to dust, I can scarcely conceive. It must have been a terrible and piteous sight when the cattle had perished and the people were ready to die through famine and hunger. Yet, bad as it was, when the clouds had long ago vanished, when the children of three years old did not know what a drop of rain meant, when the skies seemed to be as brass above the heads of poor tortured mortals, then it was that the word of God came to Elijah, saying, “There shall yet be rain.” Courage, then!

_”And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.”
1 King 18: 41-46

One of the most fascinating stories in the Old Testament is the story of the Prophet Elijah. He is a very interesting character. He has been called God’s no-name prophet. He simply comes on the scene from nowhere, and pronounces a drought to Ahab, the wicked king of Israel who was married to the wicked Jezebel.

This couple had killed the prophets of God, built and erected altars of worship to Baal, and instituted idolatrous Baal worship in the nation of Israel. We learn in James 5:17, “Elijah prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.”

I hear the sound of an abundance of rain: Elijah spoke those words in a place and a time where there had not been one drop of water from the sky or due on the ground, in 31/2 years.

I can’t see it, I can’t touch it, I don’t feel it but it’s on the way.

But Elijah didn’t say he saw, he said he heard: The Sound is your sign (The rain is on the way)

It’s on the way, it’s on the way, it’s on the way (tell your neighbor, it’s on the way) Help is on the way, the answer is on the way, the breakthrough is on the way.
There’s just something powerful about knowing that it’s on the way that puts a fire back in your belly and a fight in your spirit, it gives you the strength to hold on.
I don’t know who I’m talking to but you prayed and you fasted, and you’ve cried and you’ve confessed the word and from every natural evidence (nothing has changed, and if the truth be known for many of you it’s gotten worse).
But I came to tell you: Change is in the atmosphere, the rain is coming, restoration is coming, healing is coming, peace is coming, joy is coming,
I hear the sound of the Abundance of rain: I don’t see any evidence, I don’t see any sign, (but I hear it)
Tell your neighbor: The sound is the sign
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
There is a sound: The word sound does not just mean noise of racket.
It means PROCLAMATION
It’s a decree in the spirit realm.

The rain is Gods power visiting your life in whatever area or areas are in drought, or in lack, or broken or empty.
The rain is God taking every plan, every plot and every scheme and every weapon that the devil has launched at you and turning it around for your good.
The simplest definition of all is just answered prayer.

How bold it was of Elijah to go to Ahab, even before that cloud had been seen, before he had sent his servant to look for it, and to say to him, “There i s a sound of abundance of rain!” What was that sound? I know not. I do not suppose that Ahab heard it, or that anyone else, except Elijah, recognized it. The ears of true faith are very quick and keen.

“I hear the sound of the abundance of rain.” It’s interesting because when Elijah said this, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was just as clear and hot and dry as it had always been; no sign of any rain. Yet Elijah sensed in his spirit that something was coming. He sensed that rain was on the way. He was bold enough to announce it, and I like the way he did. He said in 1 Kings 18, “Ahab, go enjoy a good meal. I hear a mighty rainstorm coming.”

Get ready for a year of abundance—abundance of joy, abundance in your health, abundance in finances. I believe and declare it’s going to be an exceptional year for you and your family because I hear the sound of abundance coming your way!

I for one am ready for an authentic move of God’s Spirit that will break the back of idolatry and bring us into a true freedom that comes through salvation and deliverance.

We are living in drought conditions today. This drought is a spiritual drought that will only be broken by an outpouring of God’s Spirit. Like Elijah of old “I hear the sound of an abundance of rain.”
