MOVING FROM DEFEAT TO DELIVERANCE, DISCIPLINE AND DOMINION

IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: MOVING FROM DEFEAT TO DELIVERANCE, DISCIPLINE AND DOMINION

SERMON BY-:
Rev. Innocent Chukwudi Peace-Udochukwu President Living Fountain Ministries Int’l LIFOM

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
(2 Cor. 3:17)

Liberty is the birthright of every man. He may be born a pauper; he may be a foundling; his parentage may be altogether unknown; but liberty is his inalienable birthright. Black may be his skin; he may live uneducated and untaught; he may be poor as poverty itself; he may never have a foot of land to call his own; he may scarce have a particle of clothing, save a few rags to cover him; but, poor as he is, nature has fashioned him for freedom—he has a right to be free, and if he has not liberty, it is his birthright, and he ought not to be content until he wins it.

Liberty is the heirloom of all the sons and daughters of Adam. But where do you find liberty unaccompanied by religion? True it is that all men have a right to liberty, but it is equally true that you do not meet it in any country save where you find the Spirit of the Lord. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

“For you have not received the Spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit, Himself, bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”
Romans 8:15, 16

Consider, first of all, THE SPIRIT OF BONDAGE. Much of the bondage in which we are plunged by our fallen nature is not the work of the Spirit of God at all. Bondage under sin, bondage under the flesh, bondage to the fashions and customs of the world, bondage under the fear of man–this is carnal bondage, the work of the flesh, of sin and of the devil. But there is a sense of bondage to which, I think, the Apostle here mainly alludes, which is of the Spirit of God. Before the Spirit of God within us becomes the Spirit of liberty, He is, first of all, the Spirit of bondage. The Spirit is not, first, a quickening Spirit to us, but a withering Spirit–“The grass withers, the flower fades: because the Spirit of the Lord blows upon it: surely the people is grass.”

It needs a miracle to make a man know that he is, in very deed, a sinner. He will not admit it. He kicks against it. Even when he confesses the outward transgression, he does not know or feel the inward heinousness of his guilt in his soul so as to be stunned, confounded and humbled by the fact that he is a rebel against his God. Now, no man can ever know a Savior without knowing himself a sinner–even as no man can value a physician while he is ignorant of the existence and evil of disease. By the killing sentence of the Law of God we are bruised, broken and crushed to atoms as to all comeliness and self-righteousness.

Freedom is great when we know what we have been emancipated from. To enjoy our liberty in the Spirit we need to be mindful of the areas where Christ has freed us from slavery and released us from our captivity.

Praise God that He has given us unmistakable freedom from sin and all of its self-destructive corruptions. The Spirit of God releases us from suffering that sin creates. Let us rejoice that the Spirit releases us from all forms of bondage. The Spirit gives us a continual infusion of His new life, liberty and freeing message to release other captives to sin.

The Holy Spirit enables us by renewing our mind, will and emotions with His infusing of new energy through Christ Jesus. The liberty given by the Spirit of God enables us to live above the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life because we are no longer slaves to our own sinful appetites. (I John 2:15,16) Without the Spirit of liberty we are to be captive to unrighteousness of all types that lead to nothing but self-destruction.

Praise God that the Spirit allows us to go on the offensive instead of having to play defense to all the forces that would try to discourage our hearts. Thank God that He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and self-discipline. (2 tim. 1:7) Let us live as those who are freed from all forms of legalism, humanistic constraints, traditions or cultural expectations. The Spirit helps us transcend our earthly limitations with His liberating power in all of our relationships, ministries and personal concerns.

Praise God that He frees us from sin and guilt and shame. The Lord takes away our self-condemning attitudes by allowing us to hand all of our sins of omission and commission over to the Lord and know He will sanctify us and make us free from the shackles of the past.

“And his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.”
Ephesians 1:19-21

Dominion is a God-given gift to His people that requires His supernatural Anointing. It belongs to you, but it isn’t automatic. It takes faith, walking in love, and operating in the anointing.

The word anoint means “to pour out on, put on or smear on.” That’s why we anoint with oil—it represents the pouring on of the Spirit of God.

Operating in the anointing is what gives you the ability to take dominion over every area of your life—to do things you’d never be able to do otherwise. The anointing is what gave Samson supernatural strength and the ability to overcome his enemies. The anointing is what enabled David to kill Goliath. And the anointing is what allowed Joseph the knowledge to run a major estate for Potiphar with notable success.

Christ has all the power in heaven and on earth, portions of this power has been given to everyone that believes in His name and that is living a new life by the works of His redemption. Such people are expected to walk in dominion in every area.

Dominion is a topic that many of us talk about but few of us really possess.

  • Dominion in its simplest form is power, authority or control over something or someone.
  • It is the ability to request or command and expect a fulfillment of that appeal. To have dominion is to rule, to be in charge.
  • For a saint of God understanding dominion is crucial to his walk with God. A lack of understanding in this area could cost him spiritually and naturally too.

Spiritual dominion is not arbitrary ruler ship. It is not about going around commanding and demanding at your own discretion.

  • Spiritual dominion falls under the auspices of God. It is only effective and effectual when it submits totally to the will of God.
  • Dominion is about knowing who you are in Christ and understanding that in you, through Him is the power to lay hold onto the promises of God and possess them until the day of Christ.
  • Dominion is understanding that you can do what God said you can do,

have what God said you can have and be what God said you can be.

You have to choose to be different. People who take dominion are leaders not followers

They learn through their test and trial. They learn through their experiences and they believe God to the fulfilling of his promises.

  • How many times in your life has the enemy tried to destroy you. He set you up for failure

He caused accidents, injuries and sickness, but God kept you alive, He kept your able in sound mind and strength, ready for this day, this hour, this season

“Be steadfast unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord”

Dominion is what sets you apart from the rest of the world—especially financially. As a believer, you should always be the head of every situation—not the tail. That means you have money in abundance to take care of your own needs and to be a blessing to those around you. It means you’re the lender, NOT the borrower.

People should be able to see THE BLESSING of the Lord on you. They should see that you prosper in every situation, no matter what your job is or the state of the economy. It’s a testimony of the goodness of God!

You must take dominion. You must take control Stop bowing to things you don’t have to bow to Stop accepting things you don’t have to accept.

  • Bring your body under control. Bring your mind under control. Bring your spirit under control.
  • Watch what you say. Get your attitude together. Stand for righteousness

Stand for holiness. Uphold God’s word. Rejoice in troubles.

  • Worship with commitment, And stand in authority. Whatever that mountain is in front of you, take dominion.
  • Don’t let it stand in your way. Don’t let it keep you from your place of power and dominion in God.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”

Dominion means expecting to be blessed in famine. It means when layoffs are happening all around you—you’re expecting to increase anyway. When the stock market is fluctuating, you have peace, and you trust in the anointing to guide you and protect you.

Dominion means you aren’t subject to the times—the times are subject to you. And you know it!

“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” –Luke 10:19 (NLT)

You have dominion over the devil. The devil is the author of sickness and disease. Therefore, you should EXPECT to live in divine health all the days of your life because you have dominion!

Take dominion over symptoms and negative doctors’ reports. Don’t for a minute let yourself feel like a victim. You have authority. Take it in the Name of Jesus. Speak it by the power of the blood of Jesus. You’re redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony.

Every sickness and disease is under your feet. Expect healing to come to you, and then expect to live in divine healing all the days of your life.

“…when thou shalt have the dominion…thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.”
Genesis 27:40 (KJV)

Enemies, depression, the weight of sin, oppressive attempts of the devil. These are all yokes that must be destroyed. The devil wants to hinder your promotion, growth and increase. He wants to STOP what God has already set in motion in your life.

Dominion means destroying every yoke by tapping into the yoke-destroying anointing that is at your fingertips.

It’s time to get tough and break loose from bondage. Command failure, poverty, addiction or any other yoke to leave you NOW in Jesus’ Name. You have dominion.

Now that you know what dominion really means, it’s time to exercise and demonstrate it so others can witness it and become citizens of God’s kingdom
