OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL ANOINTING POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES

TOPIC: OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL ANOINTING POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

SERMON BY-:
Rev. Innocent Chukwudi Peace-Udochukwu President Living Fountain Ministries Int’l LIFOM

“Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.”
2Kings 13:20-21

To really understand the unfathomable Power behind the Supernatural Anointing of the Holy Spirit, we can see how the anointing continued working in Elisha even in the afterlife.

He is nowhere around. His spirit has departed a long time ago.

So what allowed the resurrection of the man? There was no faith involved from anyone. Elisha isn’t releasing faith.

The man being buried isn’t releasing faith. The people who are burying him are simply getting things done to try to get to safety.

What allows this resurrection to occur? It is the substance of the anointing still in the bones of Elisha.

The anointing of the Spirit is an essential part of the resurrection power of the Lord.

As important as the legal aspect of resurrection is, we also must have the anointing of God.

ANOINTING is the second dimension of the SUPERNATURAL that we need to understand and walk in: “I have found My servant David; with My holy oil I have ANOINTED him”
(Psalm 89:20).

David moved in the Supernatural, first as a man of Faith, but also by learning to operate in the Anointing. The anointing refers to the marking out of someone or something, in order to denote the presence and purpose of God. The Hebrew and Greek words in scripture, used for the word anointing, mean to rub on oil. This was the physical way by which the kings, priests and prophets of the Old Testament were frequently marked out as coming under the delegated spiritual authority of God, for the purpose of ruling over, or ministering to, His people. The anointing with oil was a means of sealing the consecration of God on such individuals (Exodus 28:41; 29:7).

Anointing with oil is also referred to in the New Testament as a powerful way of declaring the presence of God operating in people’s lives, particularly in healing (James 5:14). However, it’s not the oil which imparts supernatural authority, power and presence. It’s the Holy Spirit. Since the coming of the Holy Spirit, the anointing has been the ability God gives the believer to accomplish the work of ministering in His name and serving Him. Though a spiritual endowment, the physical act symbolising the anointing still often involves the application of oil on the person for the purpose of consecrating the work of God in his or her life.

One of my definitions for the anointing is the resurrection power of God. When the anointing of the Holy Spirit touches a person, what is dead in them can live again. The anointing has the power to drive away demons, restore diseased tissue, heal emotions, remove hindrances, and so much more. Isaiah 10:27 tells us that the anointing oil will destroy yokes.

“It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing”
Isaiah 10:27

Even as the world continues to face an international geopolitical turmoil, and economic chaos, and even as fear and uncertainty have seemingly become the “new norm,” what I am hearing from Almighty God is that it is time for believers to march forward in deliverance and victory, not shrink back in fear or panic!

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
(Romans 12:1-2, ESV).

What does it mean to not be conformed to this parched, troubled, fearsome world, but to be transformed by the renewing, refreshing Spirit of God in your mind?

God wants to transform you spiritually, emotionally, and physically! How your mind is changed from the old to the new is crucial!

The anointing of the Holy Spirit works upon the believers for supernatural conquest in all areas of life. We need to maintain a healthy relationship with God to continually enjoy the flow of the anointing.

The future king David was anointed with oil by God’s prophet. That was the outward expression. But what happened inwardly was far more important.

The power of the Holy Spirit came upon him to equip him for the future God had for him.

The Anointing is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. It enables the believer to understand, apply, and administer spiritual truth for supernatural conquest.

The Anointing For Supernatural Conquest

There are two levels of the Anointing, both of which are crucial in God’s Kingdom: personal and corporate anointing.

Personal anointing is the measure of supernatural grace from God to each believer to enable us to fulfil our unique callings. Our callings vary, which may require: anointing to administer, to govern, to restore families, for business, to perform miracles or to minister in the evangelistic, teaching or prophetic.

Corporate anointing is that which is poured out when believers present at a meeting or other gathering become one in Christ (Ephesians 4:13). When this happens, we see Christ operating through the Church with miracles, signs, and wonders.

This anointing is multiple times stronger and more powerful than personal anointing!

Becoming who we were created to be is possible only through the grace, Supernatural power and anointing of God.

Our purpose has a heavenly origin, and therefore, it is beyond the perception of our natural senses.

It transcends the boundaries of human reason and ability as well as the limits of physical law. Thus, we categorically need the supernatural power of God to fulfill His unique assignment for us on earth.

It follows that if you believe you can achieve your purpose according to your own ability, it surely is not God’s true purpose for you.

The nature and measure of your anointing are given in accordance with your unique purpose.

This divine ability is not given to you arbitrarily. It is not given to you with an option to use it or not. And it is not given to you merely for your own purposes.

It is granted exclusively for the fulfillment of a specific purpose, call or assignment.

Whether that purpose is in the area of business, the arts, education, sports, technology, law, ministry, politics, government, science, medicine or anything else, it can only be achieved in God.

Therefore, no matter what sphere of influence or territory He has assigned to you, if you are working on the purpose He has given you, then you can be assured that God will provide you with His anointing.

Many Jesus followers are sleepwalking through their Christian lives.

They wear a smile, attend church gatherings, and try their best to make it through, but they don’t really expect answered prayers, breakthroughs, or a miraculous change in their situations.

Why?
Disappointment and disillusionment. The Bible calls this “hope deferred.”

What we hoped for did not happen, and we are left with hopes and dreams that are dead.

When Jesus walked the earth, His Anointing was evident by the miracles He performed and the lives He touched.

From demons to disease, no malady or evil presence could withstand the power that flowed from Jesus Christ. As a follower of Christ, you have access to the same anointing.

ACTIVATING GOD’S SUPERNATURAL ANOINTING

Spend time praying about the situation that needs God’s Anointing.

Are you in need of healing? Of a relationship restoration? Of financial breakthrough? Whatever is weighing on your heart and mind, begin to mine the Word of God for scriptures that apply to your situation.

Once you find them, write them out, memorize them, and set them in a place where you will see them often throughout the day, such as the background on your phone, laptop or tablet.

As you build your faith through feeding your mind and heart with God’s Word, (Romans 10:17), the anointing touch of Jesus Christ becomes activated.

Look at the story of the two blind men in the Bible who cried out to Jesus, “Son of David, have mercy on us” (Matthew 9:27).

They were calling Him the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One. Jesus asked the blind men if they believed He could do this miracle. He wanted to hear them speak their faith, since He knew He was anointed to give “recovering of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18 KJV

Walking in God’s promises is not a one-time action, but a way of life.

“It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27).

You walk out your faith in the words you say, in your prayers and in your conversations with others, and, like the Scripture says, by keeping your eyes on the one who is invisible.

Choosing to focus on God’s Word, expressing your faith, and walking it out every day will activate the Anointing of God in your life. As you build your faith and learn to activate the anointing, remember where your faith comes from. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus initiates and perfects our faith.
