IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: STAND FIRM, THE OPPRESSORS YOU SEE TODAY YOU SHALL SEE NO MORE

SERMON BY-:
Rev. Innocent Chukwudi Peace-Udochukwu President Living Fountain Ministries Int’l LIFOM.

“And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 14:13-14

IT IS our firm conviction and increasing belief, that the historical books of Scripture were intended to teach us by types and figures spiritual things. We believe that every portion of Scripture history is not only a faithful transcript of what did actually happen, but also a shadow of what happens spiritually in the dealings of God with his people, or in the dispensations of his grace towards the world at large. We do not look upon the historical books of Scripture as being mere rolls of history, such as profane authors might have written, but we regard them as being most true and infallible records of the past, and also most bright and glorious foreshadowings of the future, or else most wondrous metaphors and marvellous illustrations of things which are verily received among us, and most truly felt in the Christian heart.

The land of Egypt is a picture of the house of bondage into which all God’s covenant people will, sooner or later, be brought on account of their sin. All those whom God means to give an inheritance in Canaan, he will first take down into Egypt. Even Jesus Christ himself went into Egypt before he appeared publicly as a teacher before the world, that in his instance, as well as in that of every Christian, the prophecy might be fulfilled – “Out of Egypt have I called my Son.”

“The Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more”!

This verse comes along during their journey when Moses had to encourage them because even though they had left physically, due to fear and the fact that they are scared physically, spiritually, and emotionally, they were still captives of the Egyptians. Mentally, they were bonded and limited by what they always knew: to be a slave to their masters, the Egyptians.

Yes. Don’t you love these words in Exodus 14:13–14? Don’t you love Exodus 14:13–14? Think about it. God’s people have been delivered out of slavery in Egypt. They’re now standing right on the edge of the Red Sea with this massive body of water in front of them, with the Egyptians, who have enslaved them for years, now threatening to overtake them. Pharaoh and his army have now come after the Egyptians to try to bring them back. And the people are worried, concerned, afraid. “What do we do? Where do we go when we’re trapped with a sea in front of us and all this army behind us?”

Exodus 14:13–14 Reminds Us God Fights for Us
We have a God who fights for us and asks us to simply be silent and trust in Him.

And God says through Moses, “Fear not, stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.” Now think about that. “Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.” How are they going to see the salvation of the Lord? By just standing there and seeing God work, “which he will,” it says, “work for you today. The Lord will fight for you and you have only to be silent.”

Egyptians represents problems, challenges, bad situations, circumstances in our lives that refused to leave its place. Problems are just temporary, they are not meant to dominate us or have influence in our lives.

As God led the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery, He brought them to a tight spot. As the powerful army of Egypt approached from the rear, the Israelites saw the Red Sea in front of them and mountains to the sides. They saw no way out!

But God is not limited by seemingly impossible situations. He obviously knew what He was going to do. Moses may not have known exactly what God had in mind, but He believed what God said and faithfully passed on God’s encouraging message. When God is on our side, we do not need to fear or fret.
God intended to fight their battles.

Great changes may come suddenly. To-day the foe is pressing them, to-morrow he will be overwhelmed in the deep. He that hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be destroyed.

14Compose yourselves, by an entire confidence in God, into a peaceful prospect of the great salvation God is now about to work for you. Hold your peace, you need not so much as give a shout against the enemy: the work shall be done without any concurrence of yours. In times of great difficulty, it is our wisdom to keep our spirits calm, quiet, and sedate, for then we are in the best frame both to do our own work, and to consider the work of God.
Wherever you are, whatever it is that is troubling you, the Lord who brought you this far will not leave you. If you have embarked on a journey that God called you to commence, and you are now beginning to wonder if He has abandoned you, you may not realise that the Lord is setting up your enemy for destruction. Even though it may appear that He has forsaken you and that your enemy is about to catch up with you; just like He did to the children of Israel, the Lord will bring forth His joker, and at the end of the day you will smile, just as the children of Israel did at the Red Sea.

Philippians 4:6 states, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. This means that no matter where you are, or what your situation is like, you should not let the songs of praise and thanksgiving depart from your mouth. God has started with you on your journey and He will certainly lead you to the end in victory

14:10-14 There was no way open to Israel but upward, and thence their deliverance came. We may be in the way of duty, following God, and hastening toward heaven, yet may be troubled on every side. Some cried out unto the Lord; their fear led them to pray, and that was well. God brings us into straits, that he may bring us to our knees. Others cried out against Moses; fear set them murmuring as if God were not still able to work miracles. They quarrel with Moses for bringing them out of Egypt; and so were angry with God for the greatest kindness ever done them; thus gross are the absurdities of unbelief. Moses says, Fear ye not. It is always our duty and interest, when we cannot get out of troubles, yet to get above our fears; let them quicken our prayers and endeavours, but not silence our faith and hope. Stand still, think not to save yourselves either by fighting or flying; wait God’s orders, and observe them. Compose yourselves, by confidence in God, into peaceful thoughts of the great salvation God is about to work for you. If God brings his people into straits, he will find a way to bring them out.
Psalm 23
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” This means that all those who decide to make Jesus Christ their Shepherd will never lack any thing.

The bareness you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

The failures you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

The poverty you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

The stagnancy you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

The marital failures you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.
The disfavour you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

The joblessness you see today, you shall see no more in Jesus name.

He whom the Son sets free is free indeed”!!!!

The Salvation of the believer is certain. “Ye shall see them again no more for ever.” The besetting sins, the snares of the Devil, the lusts of the flesh, the pride of life, ye shall see them no more. Full and eternal deliverance is sure.

They had to stand still to see the Salvation of the Lord. Man can never make a way of deliverance through the Red Sea of his fathomless guilt. The Lord alone can roll these dark and deadly billows back. Stand still, cease from your works. “Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”

So I just want to pray this over you right now: God, I praise you, first of all. We praise you together for fighting for us, Jesus, for fighting the ultimate battle on the cross for us, for taking on death and defeating it, for defeating sin and Satan, death, the grave, for giving us eternal life, the fact that we have eternal life through faith in you, through trusting in you. All glory, be to your name.

So God help us in this way to trust in you today, with whatever we’re walking through in our lives, to be still even in this moment and to know that you, the God of the universe, you fight for us, that we have no reason to fear, that we can stand firm through trust in you. So help us to live in this today, in this kind of stillness and this kind of firm standing in you without fear, because we know that you, the Lord of all, our Lord, our God, our savior, our king, our father in heaven, you fight for us. We love you and worship you, God, and we pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen
