TOPIC: THE DEVIL IS LIAR! BUT OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL

“He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies”
(John 8:44).
Yet he has been decisively defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Bible teaches that Christ took on himself human nature so “that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil”
(Heb. 2:14).

Therefore, if you would have power over the devil, and if you would escape the snare of his deceit and the destruction of your faith, then do what Jesus did and what all the triumphant saints have done: Treasure up the Word of God, and wield it like a sword against your foe.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

• Ephesians 6:11

The English definitions of SCHEME are found below. Don’t just passively read them, in one ear and out the other! Think about how these definitions relate to demonic activity in your life as a follower of Christ. Try to put some of these definitions in the description of schemes in Ephesians 6:11+ to help you meditate on important truth.
Definition = a plan of action, an elaborate and systematic plan for a course of action designed to achieve a major or overall aim; a strategy (art of planning and directing overall military operations and movements in a war or battle); a secret or underhanded plan; a plot or a plan to achieve some action; a carefully arranged and systematic program of action for attaining some object or end; a particular ordered system or arrangement; a large-scale systematic plan or arrangement for attaining some particular object or putting a particular idea into effect. Synonyms: plan, project, plan of action, program, strategy, stratagem, tactic, game plan, master plan, course/line of action

The devil will attack you sometimes by force and sometimes by fraud. By might or by sleight he will seek to overcome you, and no unarmed man can stand against him. Never go out without all your armor on, for you can never tell where you may meet the devil. He is not omnipresent, but nobody can tell where he is not, for he and his troops of devils appear to be found everywhere on this earth.”

Some of the devil’s tactics against us as children of God is the practice of crafty underhanded ingenuity to deceive or cheat. It implies ingenious acts intended to dupe or cheat.
Wiles – tricks or strategy carried out with the intent to entice, ensnare or deceive. Wiles suggests an attempt to entrap or deceive with false allurements. In short they are attractive

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:10-18

Don’t kid yourself, he knows very well where your vulnerabilities lie. It’s all in his file. You’ve heard, perhaps, that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. That’s very good news, but it is also true that Satan hates you and has a plan and strategy to destroy your walk with Jesus Christ.

Though the Bible presents the Devil as a powerful and cunning opponent, it also tells us that Christians can have victory over this enemy.

The only thing that could sentence us to eternal destruction is unforgiven sin. But the cross obtained complete forgiveness.

“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world”
(1 John 4:4).

Satan cannot recapture that person who is “in Christ.” Therefore, Satan is a defeated enemy, one who ultimately will be thrown into the lake of fire.

“We know that those who are born of God do not sin, but the one who was born of God protects them, and the evil one does not touch them”
(1 John 5:18).

The devil is conquered wherever his design to devour faith is defeated. That defeat is by the cross of Christ and the Word of God. John, who knew the devil’s workings so well, said in his first letter, “I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one” (1 John 2:14). The Word of God is the power that overcomes the devil. So it was with Jesus in the wilderness. To every temptation thrown at him by the devil, he quoted Scripture (Matt. 4:4, 7, 10). If Jesus was himself the Word of God, and could command demons so that they obey him (Mark 1:27), and yet he depended on Scripture to deflect the temptations of the devil, so should we.

OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL

In this world of ceaseless change, God is the only constant.

If you are a Christian, you are adopted by a Father who will never ever change His mind in regard to you, never write you off, never leave you or forsake you. If you are a part of God’s family by faith alone in Christ alone, then you have a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. You cannot talk about the one true God without coming to this truth: How great is the faithfulness of our God!

“For just as rain and snow fall from heaven, and do not return there without saturating the earth, and making it germinate and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, so My word that comes from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and will prosper in what I send it to do.”
(Isaiah 55:10-11)

“Is there anyone out there who is what he claims to be?”
If you’re looking in this world, the answer is no. But if you look outside this world, you discover that God is what he claims to be.

“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands”
(Deuteronomy 7:9).

The Bible contains several words for truth, One of the most important is the Hebrew word emet, which means stability, firmness, or certainty. We get the English word “amen” from the Hebrew emet. Every time we say amen we are really saying, “It is certain” or “Yes, it is absolutely true.”
Therefore, to say “God is true” is the same as saying “God is faithful.” Here’s a simple definition: God’s faithfulness means that because he is the truth, everything he says and does is certain. That means he is 100% reliable 100% of the time. In the words of Lewis Sperry Chafer: “He not only advances and confirms that which is true, but in faithfulness abides by his promises, and executes every threat or warning he has made.” He says what he means and means what he says and therefore does everything he says he will do. He does not fail, forget, falter, or vacillate. I f he says it, he means it, and you can stake your life upon it.

God is faithful …
Every word he says is true.
Every promise will be kept.
Every trial has a purpose.
O Lord, teach us to trust when we cannot see. Help us to hold on to the rope of faith until we feel the tug from heaven that tells us you are still there. Amen.
