“And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the ROD OF GOD in mine hand.”
Exodus 17 vs. 9-11

What is the rod of God??

The rod of God is an instrument of battle
The rod of God is an instrument of warfare.
The rod of God is a weapon of God for giving liberty to the people
The Rod of God is a weapon for breaking evil cages and bondages
The rod of God is an instrument for breaking bars of yokes
There is a rod of God that saves
There is a rod of God that delivers
There is a rod of God that destroys the enemies.
God has a rod that he uses to do signs and wonders
The rod of God is a weapon of spiritual warfare
The rod of Moses is also called the rod of God in the Bible
The rod of Moses brings forth miracles
The rod of God is an instrument of deliverance
You have a spiritual rod which is the word of God
As you confess the word of God it becomes a divine rod in your hands

There is a huge difference between a rod and the Rod

The Lord said to [Moses], “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And he said, “Cast it on the ground. So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. But the Lord said to Moses, “Put out your hand, and take it by the tail” — so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand — “that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Exodus 4:2-5

Before Moses cast his rod on the ground before God, it was a mere dry wood, staff or stick with which he tended the flock of his father-in-law. However, after Moses had willingly surrendered his rod to God, it ceased to be an ordinary rod or staff to Moses.

Although God continued to refer to it as Moses’ rod, yet Moses never for once called it his rod after his dramatic encounter with God. Apparently, Moses had completely and permanently relinquished any claim he had to his rod. Therefore, he rightly called it “the rod of God.”

“And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.”
Numbers 17:7-8

Anyone or anything consecrated to God ceases to be common, unholy, natural or ordinary; but sacred, holy, divine or supernatural!

“But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.”
Exodus 7:11-12

WE shall not attempt to discuss the question as to whether these magicians actually did turn their rods into serpents or no; it is probable that they, by dexterous sleight of hand, substituted living serpents for dry rods, and so deceived the eye of Pharaoh; on the other hand, it is possible that God was pleased to permit the devil to aid their enchantments, and so the old serpent produced a brood. Into that question, I say, I shall not enter. It is of no importance which opinion we may hold. Curious questions must this morning give way to important truths. I call your attention to the fact, that Aaron’s rod proved its heaven-given superiority, and silenced all the boastings of Jannes and Jambres, by readily swallowing up all their rods. This incident is an instructive emblem of the sure victory of the divine handiwork over all the opposition of men. Whenever a divine thing is cast into the heart, or thrown upon the earth, it swallows up everything else; and though the devil may fashion a counterfeit, and produce swarms of opponents, as sure as ever God is in the work, it will swallow up all its foes. “Aaron’s rod swallowed up all their rods.”
