IN THE DAYS OF HIS POWER SERIES.

TOPIC: THE WORD MAKES YOU THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

COMPILED/EDITED BY-:

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple”
(Psalm 119:130).kjv

I want you to understand that nothing is as important as the word of
God. By it the earth was created and everything it; which means that all things will survive by it including man.

The word is the source of light which gives meaning to our lives even in the midst of a dark and gloomy world.

Some people may not know this, but every human being has two sets of eyes. The first is our physical eyes with which we see and appreciate the world around us. The other set is the spiritual eyes, which, incidentally, most never use, or don’t know how to use; they have never seen with the spiritual eyes. Such people only see things from the natural point of view. Only the Word of God can open your spiritual eyes.

Understanding has become a scarce commodity in our society because we do not value God’s word!
With understanding, we know what we ought to do and what ought not to be done; with these, destiny will sure be fulfilled!

As you allow God’s Word into your heart through diligent study and constant meditation, your heart is flooded with light. It’s akin to the Spirit’s prayer through the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:17-18 which says “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened.”
He prays that the eyes of your spirit will be flooded with light. Even now, as you’re studying God’s Word in this article, something is happening in your spirit. Your spiritual eyes are being flooded with light; they’re being enlightened to see and apprehend the realities of our heavenly Kingdom.

At the opening of God’s word, there is light! Light means absence of darkness. While darkness mean confusion, emptiness, formlessness and shapelessness.

The only source of understanding is God; and it is through His words!

Do you know you are confused simply because you have ignored the word of God? You are simply in that trap now because you refuse to unfold the word of God that dispels darkness and confusion.

Psalm 119:105
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet (guidance); and light unto my path (direction).”

The Bible says,
A man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.’
When you read the word of God, understanding is available to you; you know what to do, and men are at your command. An example is the men of Issachar in 1 Chr. 12:32. This is the excellent spirit!

You see when you have understanding, you will sure get wisdom! Because what you understand, you will be able to apply.

“I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation….’
Psalm 119: 99

What can make you wiser than your teachers, mentors or even the ancients? Understanding! Where can it be gotten? At the entrance of
God’s word!

No wonder Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world.”
— Matt. v. 14.

Let us never forget that light must first be imparted to us, or it can never go forth from us. We are not lights of the world by nature; at best we are but lamps unlit until the Spirit of God comes. Enquire, therefore, my hearer, of thyself whether God has ever kindled thee by the flame of his Spirit. Hast thou been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into light? Has the flame immortal of the divine life touched thee? If so, thou hast light in thyself, and light towards others, and thy light will work effectually in many ways. It will reveal the darkness of those who are round about thee. Thy light will show the darkness how dark it is. Even as Christ’s life judged upon the men of his age, so does the faith of Christians expose the evils of unbelief, and the holiness of believers reveals the wickedness of sin. Our light also reproves the deeds of darkness, and condemns them. Even though we were never to use a severe word, a godly life would be a stern rebuke of sin. Hence it comes to pass that we must expect to be opposed, for “he that doeth evil hateth the light.”
The world does not understand us, “for the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness understandeth it not”; and, therefore, it misrepresents us, and rages against us. In a certain sense the saints are day by day the judges of mankind.

The believer’s light makes manifest great and important truths. We are light-bearers by bearing testimony to the Lord Jesus and his divine gospel. “Ye are my witnesses saith the Lord.” We have believed, and therefore speak; we have felt the healing power of the gospel, and therefore we proclaim it. It is the great object of our lives to make known the gospel of Christ in every place, holding forth the word of God, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves, and labouring to enlighten every man as to the things which make for his peace. In this way we become instruments of comfort, for as light chases away gloom, and it is a pleasant thing to behold the sun, so are believers the gladdeners of the world. The wilderness and the solitary place are glad for them; those who sit in the region of the shadow of death rejoice that to them light is brought by means of believers; when they come to the dying sons of men in the power of the Spirit their feet are beautiful upon the mountains, for they publish salvation. Saints are sons of consolation, lamps which cheer the night.

The only reason a person rebels against God is because his understanding has been blinded by Satan. But the Word gives light and removes blindness.

Nobody in his right mind would ever deliberately choose Satan over God, any more than he would consciously choose to go to hell rather than to heaven. So there must be something wrong with the mind of a person who doesn’t choose God. That’s right, there certainly is – his mind is blinded.

But the entrance of God’s Word gives light and brings understanding to the simple. In order for the sinner to be born again, the “blinders” must be removed from him. How do you remove the blinders? By the Word. You share God’s Word, and it will cause light to come. When that light enters a sinner’s heart, he will see Jesus for Who He is and gladly choose Him.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Psalm 19:7-10

God’s Word Is Perfect – The law of the LORD is perfect,
God’s Word Is Powerful – converting the soul:
God’s Word Is Prudent – the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple
