TOPIC: YOU HAVE A GREAT FUTURE! THE LORD SAID SO!

COMPILED/EDITED BY-:

Rev. Innocent Chukwudi Peace-Udochukwu President Living Fountain Ministries Int’l LIFOM

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11:

All of the thoughts that God has toward us are about giving us peace, hope, and a future.

Sometimes things are not as we want them to be. Despite our best efforts, our circumstances aren’t user friendly.

This morning my desire shall be to comfort any of God’s people who are in a state of perplexity, and thus are carried away captive. I would assure them of the Lord’s kindliness to them, and urge them to trust and not be afraid. God’s thoughts towards them are good, though their trials may be grievous.

It is noteworthy, first of all, that he does think of them, and towards them. Observe that this Scripture saith “I know the thoughts that I have thought toward you.” That would be a happy remembrance; for the thoughts of God concerning his people are more ancient than the everlasting hills. There never was a time when God did not think upon his people for good. He saith, “I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
But the point here brought forward is, that he still thinks of them.

This truth, although it is easily spoken, is not readily comprehended in the fulness of its joy; nor is it always believed as it should be.

To go a step further, let us next note that the thoughts of God are only perfectly known to himself. It would be a mere truism for God to say, “I know the thoughts that I think toward you.” Even a man usually knows his own thoughts; but the meaning is this: when you do not know the thoughts that I have towards you, yet I know them. Brethren, when we cannot know the thoughts of the Lord because they are too high for our conception, or too deep for our understanding, yet the Lord knows them. Our heavenly Father knows what he is doing; when his ways towards us appear to be involved and complicated, and we cannot disentangle the threads of the skein, yet the Lord sees all things clearly, and knows the thoughts that he thinks towards us.

When we think about God’s intentions with His plan of salvation; we see that the golden thread running throughout everything is that of peace, hope, and a future. Each one of the 10 commandments that God gave through Moses has the single purpose of giving people peace, hope, and a future.

God has a purpose and plan for each individual, for every nation, and for all peoples. We see throughout world history that difficult times have been contributing factors in driving people to seek God, salvation, peace, and reconciliation. “He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression.” Job 36:15.

The angels sang about this to the shepherds who were in the fields of Bethlehem: “… And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:14. When Jesus went about doing good, healing the sick, and helping people in need, He did it to give people peace, hope, and a future. God’s positive thoughts lead to action. Reconciliation, which is also one of God’s positive thoughts, is why God sent His Son to earth, and why Jesus gave His life in our stead. Because of this act, humanity has been given incredible opportunities to develop and to have an eternal perspective in the daily life here on earth!

When we daily take up our cross – that cross on which the enmity of the flesh is put to death – then the positive thoughts God has toward us for peace, hope, and a future will be realized in our lives. God’s thoughts about us will become our thoughts about our fellow men and women – we have their best in mind for time and eternity!

Have you ever thought that God was angry with you? Have you sometimes questioned His love?
This often happens when we are going through some great tragedy.
Satan often uses the circumstances of our lives to bring doubt concerning God’s love.
If God really loved you, why would He allow you to experience this suffering or sorrow.
This often happens when we have failed in our Christian walk. We have been disobedient to the commands of God

“Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.”
1 Peter 5:7
He is “always thinking about you.”
Not only that but He is “watching everything that concerns you.”

You’re very blessed if you have a Mama and Daddy who think about you. . . you’re blessed when your spouse and/or children are thinking about you. . .it’s nice when your boss is thinking about you. . .it’s a joy knowing that you have friends who are thinking about you.
But even if you didn’t know if anyone was thinking about you … the best thing of all is when you have the scriptural assurance that the Master of the Universe. . .the Creator of Heaven and earth. . .your Jehovah Shalom. . .your God of peace. . . is thinking about you . . . that is so awesome it defies description!

The truth of the matter is God planned for you before you were ever conceived or born on planet earth. It doesn’t matter if your mom or your dad didn’t plan you … God did and that’s why you’re here. His plan is the ultimate plan.

Jeremiah 1:5 in the Message Bible says:
“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations—that’s what I had in mind for you.”

This scripture is proof that there is no such thing as an illegitimate child. You can be assured that God didn’t just plan for Jeremiah’s life.
Every life that comes upon planet earth was created with a purpose and a destiny. God makes no mistakes!

God is thinking thoughts of peace toward you.

We are living in perilous times . . . where economic and political circumstances can change in an instant. It’s a sad and tragic commentary that there are those in the world who have a callous disregard for human life . . . people who plot terror against us. . .simply because we believe differently than they do.
But in the midst of all the turbulence . . . Jehovah Shalom is thinking thoughts of peace toward you.

It’s interesting to note that He’s not just thinking thoughts of peace toward people in general but rather thoughts of peace towards you specifically.

Not only is He thinking thoughts of peace toward you . . . He gives you instructions on how to keep your mind peaceful in the midst of the storms of life.

Isaiah 26:3 in the Amplified Bible says:
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”

It’s not a matter of whether you’re lucky or not . . . like winning the lottery God has plans to prosper you far beyond the realm of “lucky.”

It’s not whether or not you get the big performance bonus at work . . . God has plans to prosper you.

It’s not whether or not you receive a large inheritance from a rich relative . . . God has plans to prosper you.

It’s not whether or not your investment portfolio brings huge returns and dividends . . . God has plans to prosper you.

It’s not whether or not you found oil or gold under your land . . . God has plans to prosper you.

3 John 2 says:
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Here’s the bottom line. . .God has plans to prosper you. . .regardless of your circumstances . . . as long as you’re obedient to His word.

God will not abandon you!.

Sadly, there are many people who have been abandoned in their lives.
Spouses, children and even employers and employees have suffered abandonment. It’s a deep hurt. However, we have an assurance that God will never abandon us!

Psalm 27:10 in the Living Bible says:
“For if my father and mother should abandon me, you would welcome and comfort me.”

God plans are to give you hope.

The scripture says in Proverbs 13:12 says “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick…”

Jeremiah 29:11 in New International Reader’s Version says:
“I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.”

Hope is our healing balm that makes everything all right.
Hope takes away the pain of loss . . . so we can anticipate better days.
Hope can be defined as the search for and anticipation of future good that’s achievable with God’s help and direction.

Romans 5:5 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.”

God will even be your personal bodyguard when you put your trust and confidence in Him.
Isaiah 26:3 in the Amplified Bible says:
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”
God will give you hope . . . when you focus on Him.

God wants you to enjoy success.

God wants you to be successful in everything your hands find to do. Barely getting by or giving up are both offensive sentiments to God . . . because He gives you the formula for success in His Word.

I feel led to share Jeremiah 29:11 in the New International Reader’s Version again. It says:
*“I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. *“I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.”*
God wants “…you to enjoy success.”

Have you ever seen anywhere in the Bible where God was delighted when someone failed . . . have you seen Him take pride in failures? It’s not in the Book.
Not only does God want you to succeed He wants it extended to your whole family as well.

God has plans to give you a future.

I’ve seen your future and it look great. No, I’m not a psychic or a prophet. I’m just a man who believes the Word of God . . . and everything it says.
Jeremiah 29:11 in the New Century Version says:
“I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.”

God not only thinks about you. . .wants you to prosper. . .He’s also planned out your future.
Psalm 37:37 in the New Living Translation says:
“Look at those who are honest and good, for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.”

God has made the mystery of salvation known to you, that He purposed in Christ. You have a hope and future in Jesus. A hope and future of eternal life with Him in glory. A hope and future that is beyond anything you know or understand.

The situation you are in will not last forever. Look to the Lord where your hope and help comes from. Look to the Lord, your future is in Christ, not the doctors, the president, or the things of this world.

No matter what happens, God is in control and He will continue to draw you back to the plan for your life.

Ending this discourse, I would ask you to plight your troth that you will meet me where glory dwelleth, in Emmanuel’s land. We shall soon be with the angels. The Lord is thinking of us, and he is expecting us home. Our Lord Jesus is waiting for his wedding-day, which is his expected end. “My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him.”
